It's on my mind...so I must share.

We send this blog to our loved ones, who will hopefully fight for us at the polls in 5 days, but who is going to spread the word to those we don't know? Some say you shouldn't talk politics with family, but when it comes to my basic civil rights isn't it more than just politics? I must ask you to please advocate for us next Tuesday and every day until then.
If you are voting in Florida, Arizona, or California please visit the following website to learn about three propositions which, if passed, would strip us of basic rights and further spread homophobia and hate.

Florida: http://www.sayno2.com/

California: http://www.noonprop8.com/

When I went with Corinne to the doctor a couple of weeks back I stayed in the waiting room until everything was done and ok. As I waited there I started to think about what would happen if everything wasn't ok? Would the doctor tell me anything? Would the doctor even let my back to see her? By law he/she didn't have to do either of these things and it was then that I realized just how much is at stake in my personal life on November 4th.

I know that some will choose to vote down party lines in this election...but I have to ask that as your sister, daughter, niece, granddaughter, sister-in-law, or friend please take a minute to re-consider.

There is a clear candidate who has promised to protect the civil rights of homosexuals and ensure that I will not be discriminated against because of who I am. Please help make our voice stronger.

Bringing us up to date...

I want to give Lisa a big round of applause for updating the blog through our vacation which took place in early Sept. We obviously have not had the time to devote to updating it completely...so, I'm going to attempt to bring us up to date...quickly:

- Lisa got a great job!! She's now an HIV Counselor with the Compass Organization. Things seem to be going well, it isn't going to be easy...but she says she likes it so far! It's a wonderful organization that services the GLBT Community, and she is proud to be a part of it.

- I got a job also!! (whew!) I'm the Recruitment Advertising Manager for Clear Channel Radio. I've been at it about a month now, and things are slowly falling into place. It's definitely a fun place to work, the people are cool, so hopefully...it's the beginning of an exciting journey!

- We are excited to be heading up to Orlando for UCF (my alma mater's) Homecoming in early Nov. It's going to be a fun time, as we'll be joined by my dad & step mom, and our friends Jaime & Rob. GO KNIGHTS!!!

- Lisa's best friend Melissa is coming down for a visit, which will be awesome! We can celebrate Lisa's birthday with her best buddy, and a good time will be had by all!

- ALSO....We are sooooooooo excited because we booked our tickets for a Jan. visit to Jackson Hole to visit with Lisa's family. If the rumors are true, we might have the entire Luksich clan there (ok, not all Luksich's...MacDowells & Sauciers). We are looking forward to having a white Christmas.

This is just a quick update, we'll be sure to post more detailed info. later.

Love to all!!

A Cayman crab builds a home...

We had about an hour to hang out on the beach before our shore excursion in Grand Cayman and found ourselves mezmorized by this crab who was expanding his home. The part that always got us laughing was when he tosses the extra sand away at the end!

Better late than never...

Hello Everyone! If you didn't know, we were scheduled to go on a 7 day Western Caribbean cruise starting on August 31st...yes, right around the time that Gustav was making his way up to New Orleans, Hanna was threatening South Florida and Ike was stirring it up in the Atlantic! It sounded like a recipe for disaster! Well, Mother Nature took mercy on us (probably because we recycle and I drive a Prius) and the vacation went off without a hitch. (I don't really understand that saying...any explanation is welcomed!

Here is our itinerary in, of course, list format:

Day 1: Depart Miami on the Carnival Valor around 4pm!

The mandatory "Muster" (Titanic-type evacuation drill) brought out the clostrofobia in me! (Notice how much I'm sweating in the picture!) Corinne aided me through it with deep breathing exercises and picture taking!

Day 2: Fun Day at Sea- Corinne checks out the day's activities on our balcony. The day consisted of eating, reading, relaxing, eating, bingo, and then eating again! And pictures in the evening after dinner...

Day 3: Grand Cayman- Swimming with stingrays, snorkeling, and starfish!

Day 4: Roatan, Honduras- walking West Bay Beach, driving around the island, and shopping

Day 5: Belize- ATVing through the rainforest and tube floating through caves!! This day was really the highlight of the trip! The Belizean tour guides were great and it was our favorite shore excursion! On the way down in the bus they gave us sample shots of their local liquor called Cashew Wine.

Day 6: Cozumel- We took a taxi to Paradise Beach where we chilled under a cabana while enjoying...well, what else when you're in Mexico...beer, chips and salsa!

Day 7: Pulling into Maimi- We got back to Miami at about 7 am on the last day. We were a little tired, very relaxed and ready to get home to the cats but so grateful for the wonderful vacation we were able to take before starting our new jobs!

I finally finished this blog, which was started over a month ago, after some "encouragement"...Thanks Uncle Matt! :)

BBQ Time!

In order to break in the new (not-so-new) house we decided to have some friends and family over for a BBQ last night. So, we fired up the grill, had lots of yummy food, played MadGab and CLR and overall had a great time!

Here's Wendi and Theresa in our living room

John (Corinne's Dad), Debbie (Corinne's cousin), Carol (Corinne's Stepmom), and Wendi in the living room

Grill masters, Alex and Rob, on our porch

Mad Gab time!

Sarah, Corinne, and Carol getting ready to play CLR in the dining room

Theresa basking in her winnings from CLR.

Alex and I in a heated push up contest...he won. (but please note that his rear is up in the air and mine is not!)

And finally, us, happy from a great night in our house with some of the people we love most!

Fay, Fay...thanks for a fun day!

When you live in the Midwest and tell people that you are moving to Florida the immediate response is "Watch out for the hurricanes!" to which I would laugh and say "I know, right?!?" So, how ironic is it that news of Tropical Storm/Hurricane Fay sprang up not 7 days after my arrival!?! Corinne was quite the Hurricane Hostess and gave me frequent updates on our status in regards to the storm so that I would halt my fear of Furious Fay. Well, Fay reared her much overrated ugly face last night around 1am and said hello with loud thunder, mesmerizing lightning, sheets of rain, and lots of howling wind. I took it like a pro but Tatie was a little scared-i-cat and slept very close to me. (It's always nice when SOMETHING is more scared than you are!)

Things I have learned from Fay...my first...in our signature list format:

1. Just because the news and some old neighbors are acting crazy doesn't mean you have to.

2. Fill up the bathtub with water...no not to bathe but to flush the toilet.

3. Do not buy distilled or purified water...you want the spring water!

4. Pull everything inside or close to the house.

5. Buy lots of batteries.

6. Find an alternative to cold Spaghetti-O's...because not even in a Category 5 (this is the worst kind I am told) could I force that down!

So, thanks Fay for breaking me in as a Florida Resident and giving Corinne a day off of work!!

A whole new world

Well, quite a bit has happened since we've last blogged. It appears as if both Lisa and I are living in a whole new world. (feel free to bust into the Aladdin song at this point). Let me see if I can provide them in a list format...

1 - Lisa has officially separated from the US Air Force.

2 - Lisa is now a Florida resident.
3 - Corinne is no longer working for the Palm Beach Post, as of Aug. 12.
4 - Corinne is currently unemployed.
5 - Lisa is currently unemployed.
6 - The cats (Macy & Tatie) are finally just starting to tolerate each other.

Yes folks, I wasn't lying when I said quite a bit has happened, now was I?

1 - Lisa has officially separated from the US Air Force. (Well, actual release date is August 31st)

Lisa's last day with the USAF was on Aug. 4. She was sent off with an array of cards, gifts, well wishes and an amazing experience she won't soon forget. It appeared to be a bittersweet moment...sad because she is leaving many friends and wonderful memories behind, yet excited to see what is in store for her future. On Aug. 8, Lisa, Christina and Tatie packed up the Prius and headed for a long road trip to South Florida. (OK, Tatie didn't really do much packing of the car, she's quite lazy). There it was, the beginning of an exciting new journey for Lisa, she was on her way!! Ok, so far the "journey" wasn't as exciting as the experiences the USAF provided her with. No...no...it was no Hawaii or Honduras, etc. BUT, it was the beautiful mid-west, and heck with stops in world famous tourist destinations like beautiful Metropolis, IL (where you can take a nifty picture with a Superman cutout) or Chesterfield, IL (the home of Popeye). Their pitstop was Atlanta, to take a breather and spend some time with Lisa's good friends Mark & Derek.

2.- Lisa is now a Florida resident. (Lisa has also taken over the blog)

I got a new ID...good thing since my last ID was from age 16 in Arizona!

3.- Corinne is no longer at the Palm Beach Post. She is working with the United Way for their campaign and has been busy interviewing with a couple great companies around the West Palm area. We were able to enjoy a week at home together before she started at the United Way.

4.- The beginning of this post is old...Corinne is employed! :)

5.- Lisa is currently unemployed but has two interviews scheduled in the next week. *Cross your fingers*

6.- Tatie is currently getting in trouble because she is too much of a curious kitty. Macy, much Tatie's senior, doesn't appreciate Tatie's efforts to bring out the kitten in her. Fortunately we no longer have to live with one in one room and one in the other but we aren't taking naps together yet!

OK- this post was started about a week ago...but we are busily trying to get settled into the house and find the jobs that are right for us!

..and so it begins...

Today is a big day, it marks day one in the world of blogging for me (ok, us, but for now it's a long distance "blog-ationship"). It's already been quite an adventure...in the midst of picking out a template together w/Lisa via cyberspace, I managed to burn my frozen CPK pizza and ignore the cat fight that was taking place on my patio. This is turning out to be a great decision already, just what I need, another distraction to keep my from my daily chores.

So, as for now...this is our blog. We hope to keep our friends & family up to date on our lives, and present a few daily musings that might entertain. Look for something a little more gripping in the near future, but for this afternoon...welcome to the premiere of...

That's What She Said!
